Since its premiere in Broadway, New York at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in 2019 up to its present run in Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Hall, Moulin Rouge! The Musical has been one of the favorite shows sought out by old and new theatre fans. The show, being a tale of classic romance, is of interest to a substantial reach of audiences and has cemented its spot in Broadway success.
The musical tells the journey of Christian, an aspiring American composer who travels to Paris to launch a successful career, who then bumps into and subsequently falls in love with the star entertainer Satine of the Moulin Rouge nightclub, one of the highly sought out nightclubs in Montmartre in the late 1900s. Their relationship however is not meant to be easy, as Christian and Satine suddenly experience a series of difficulties, including the ire of one of Moulin Rouge’s wealthy patrons, the duke of Monroth who targets Satine for himself and bars Christian from openly declaring his love for her.
The characters of Christian and Satine were originated by Award-winning actor Aaron Tveit (for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical), and Tony Award Nominee Karen Olivo (for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical) respectively. They were accompanied by a star-studded and equally-awarded cast including Danny Burstein (Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical), and Tony Award Nominee Sahr Ngaujah (Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical) undoubtedly leading to the musical's success. Behind the curtain, Tony winners such as Alex Timbers (Best Direction of a Musical), Sonya Tayeh (Best Choreography), and Justin Levine with Katie Kresek, Charlie Rosen, and Matt Stine (Best Orchestrations) create an unsurpassed show.
This coming April’s production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical is to be produced at Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Hall in Fort Myers. Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Hall has long been known as one of the most beautifully crafted theatres in the entire state of Florida, with not only beautiful architecture but also the favorite interior decor suited to stage such a vibrant stage adaptation.
