Trying to overcome both teenage years and a life altering circumstance at the same time, and seeking for happiness, belongingness, and acceptance, pretty much sumes up Kimberly Akimbo. A well adjusted mix of Comedy and Drama.
Initially Kimberly first debuted on broadway November 10, 2022. “Kimberly” giving an association of strength and nobility, and “Akimbo” a demeanor of having the hand on the hip and the elbow turned outward, visualizes the challenge Kimberly is facing, and the strength she is building.
Played by Victoria Clark, a notably mentioned Americal Actress and Singer, with hit productions likeThe Light in the Piazza, Cinderella, and Caroline, or Change. This role has won multiple recognitions including the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, Outer Critics Circle Award, and many more.

Kimberly is a Girl trapped in a 72-year-old elderly woman, and a teen trying to live every day as its the last. Following asking a friend about his newborn niece and, And getting the response “Oh, she’s amazing—she’s like this little old woman trapped in a baby’s body”, David Lindsay-Abaire thought of "Kimberly Akimbo" for the first time.
Kimberly Akimbo is a show that premiered Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club New York City on February 4, 2003. Starred by Victoria Clark, and Directed by Jessica Stone, often celebrated for his ablity for bonding humor and cruel reality.
The tale begins in 1999 in suburban New Jersey, a teen called Kimberly struggling with a condition that made her age four and a half times than she actually is. Struggling with a terrifying reality to experience mortality and adolescence simulataniously.
Unlike the rare clinical condition, she is struggling with, Kimberly is rarely seen taken care of in her life, in fact, you will see her compassionately consumed by her family’s recklessly, which puts her in various emotional burdens including psychological strain, financial troubles, social isolation, and the need for belongingness. Despite this, Kimberly demonstrates great resilience, empathy, determination, courage, and above all humor.
Widely recognized for triggering big questions about mortality, self, and family.
Kimberly has the power to pull out the outcast in all of us, the misfit we all felt at some point and the origin story of what we are today.
