Trying to overcome both teenage years and a life altering circumstance at the same time, and searching for happiness, acceptance and somewhere to belong, pretty much encapsulates Kimberly Akimbo. A balanced weave of Comedy and Drama.
Originally Kimberly first first appeared on broadway November 10, 2022. “Kimberly” giving a connotation of strength and nobility, and “Akimbo” a posture of classic hand on hip pose, envisions the challenge Kimberly is facing, and the identity she is building.
Played by Victoria Clark, a highly spoken of Americal Actress and Singer, with hit productions likeThe Light in the Piazza, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Caroline, or Change. This role has won multiple awards including the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, Outer Critics Circle Award, and many more.

Kimberly is a Teen trapped in a 72-year-old elderly lady, and a teen trying to live every day as its the last. After asking a friend about his newborn niece and, And receiving the reply “she’s amazing—she’s like this little old woman trapped in a baby’s body”, David Lindsay-Abaire thought "what a great idea for a Theate".
Kimberly Akimbo is a musical that presented Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club NYC on February 4, 2003. Starred by Victoria Clark, and Directed by Jessica Stone, well known for his ablity for uniting humor and brutal reality.
The story took place in 1999 in suburban New Jersey, a teenager called Kimberly struggling with a condition that made her 4.5x more than she actually is. Struggling with a terrifying reality to experience mortality and teen years at the same time.
Unlike the rare clinical condition, she is struggling with, Kimberly is rarely the center of attention in her life, in fact, you will see her nobly consumed by her family’s recklessly, which places her in various emotional pressures including psychological strain, financial struggle, isolation, and the need for belongingness. Highlighting her resilience, empathy, determination, courage, and above all humor.
Prominently known for asking meaningful queries about death, identity, and family.
Kimberly has the power to pull out the outcast in everyone, the misfit we all felt at some time and the origin story of what we are today.
